has anyone read any of these? (especially the Guns Germs and Steel one... sicne it sounds really... boring).

i've read women's room. i really liked it but it made me quite bitter while i was reading it :P haha
i liked the fact that most of the issues are still relevant now, even though it was written awhile ago.

Yep. Well i could choose any person to read a biography on... And he told me I should do one on her because I like her band... and he recommended "I Don't Want to Live This Life" because he thought I might like it.

I've heard mostly good things about Guns, Germs, and Steel and I want to read it. I have heard, though, that it can be a slow read at times so I hope you have a good teacher who won't slow it down even more. I'm interested in looking at a wide timeframe of history through certain lenses, so maybe that's why it seems interesting to me.

Courtney Love: The Queen of Noise By Melissa Rossi

I've read these too. They're good. Especially the one written by deborah spungen. it was good.

I've read about a third of Guns, Germs and Steel which may make it sound boring but it's because I moved in the middle of reading it and then got distracted and never went back to it, but I was actually enjoying it.

I've read And I Don't Want to Live This Life, honestly I'd take Guns, Germs and Stell over it.

I read AND I DON'T WANT TO LIVE THIS LIFE in like 3 days when I was in high school & I think it's the first book that made me cry (I cry at movies all the time, but books? Not usually.) So that's a great read.
The Women's Room is really good too--not such a quick read but I definitely agree w/Mother Greer that the issues addressed are still relevant today. It was nice to see that someone whom you would assume is so trapped in suburbia & housewifery completely transforms her life (even if it is just in a work of fiction).

The Women's Room look me around 3 days to read... which was weird considering the book as interesting and not that long... I usually read books that long in a day... however, i stopped for breaks a lot and I thought a lot about the issues that were brought up... I thought it was a GREAT book. I disliked and loved Mira through out the whole book. I loved it. I'm convinced that Mira is the speaker... but... i can't be sure...

For a Courtney biography I would say read the Poppy Znone opposed to the Rossi one. 'And I don't want to live this life' is a good read, it really surprised me actually. Enjoy

I read the other one... and so far I like "courtney love the real story' better. i feel like i'm reading a freakin tabloid mag whenever I real melissa Rossi's bio on her. *bleh

My son just read Guns, Germs and Steel and he loved it! It's a long read though so get started on it soon!

People only say that because she doesn't stick her tongue up Courtney's ass once every paragraph. The people who think Rossi's book is unfair are the same people who thought the tabloids were just making shit up about Courtney being back on drugs in 2002 because she was such a strong woman and needed to be brought down.

Brite's is actually the horrid one. She seems to be under the impression she's writing one of her knock-off Anne Rice novels, so all the junky fucks and leeches are depicted in ridiculously flowery prose. That and she also seems to be under the impression Courtney is Mother Theresa.

fan of jim morrison or not, it's a great biography

I was reading it and really enjoying it, but have misplaced it, and it's bothering me... Isn't Hopkins a friend of Kennealy, though? I hate her...
