he's just a music journalist (though i guess now he likes to write fiction too) that worked for a bunch of magazines, like spin and esquire. these books are either conceived as books about music and i think at least one of them is just a collection of his essays for different mags. he is from the midwest and i kind of love how he describes the music scene in places like north dakota and even minnesota. he makes those places sound kind of cool or at least lively. he has very strong opinions about A LOT of things and I find some of his ideas obnoxious...still, fun reads. im a big popular culture junkie. he fulfills that craving.

I don't really like reading biographies or books about people that i really love (or think I do)... it makes me have strange feelings in my stomach. I read them anyway, though, but I am VERY CRITICAL.

This is one of the saddest books I've ever read (that wasn't to do with the Holocaust or whatever):

Yeah, Take It Like A Man is amazing. Go George, go. Directly to jail! Do not pass Go. Another music autobiography I rather enjoyed was Is That It, by Bob Geldof. Quite racy when I read it in the fifth form.

My favourite Morrissey book is Saint Morrissey. I quite enjoy the way the author makes it basically about himself, but about Morrissey at the same time. It's interesting, and his monstrous ego is surprisingly captivating - kind of like Moz.

I'm currently reading JapRockSampler by Julian Cope. The man is a legend.
