it's a perspective i can obviously never understand. i got kinda hurt by the people itt who were shitty about these books, because they're so important to me and my experiences. i felt personally insulted. that's pretty lame haha.
I guess it is just so far removed from my experience. I can't identify with it at all .

I think if I'd just read it for fun and not for a class I might have liked it a lot more.

The greatest asset they all have is themselves. And yet does anybody promote that to them? Does anybody tell them that they are the greatest asset they have? Or are they steered to idol worship? Are they moved, are they motivated, are they inspired to look at the president or any politician as their only salvation? If they are, it's just a shame.

Disgrace by J.M. Coetzee
Siswe Banzi is Dead by Athol Fugard
The Island by Athol Fugard

I saw Siswe Banzi as a play as well, but it was in French so I read the book afterwards just to make sure I'd understood it properly.
