I recommend Clive Barker's Books of Blood collection.

Supernatural/Horror is not a literary genre to which I would adhere easily; however, I love Barker's stories. If horror appeals to you, then you should check him out. His stories are very graphic in detail (gore) and he describes fantastically oriented images of human horror as no author does.

i don't know if you've read "last chance" by sarah dessen (also released as "keeping the moon" i think) but that's a good one. i read it when i was about 16 and then re-read it again recently and still enjoyed it. i mean, yeah, it's very formulaic and a bit cheesy and after the first chapter you can pretty much guess what's going to happen throughout the rest of it, but that's part of the beauty of that type of book and why it's good for escapism. would definitely recommend if you haven't already read it.

THIS.

Of course there's Harry Potter, but everyone here has already read those masterpieces.

Read Peeps/The Last Days.
