Well in that case
HAHA I might just have to read it/them w/a red proofreading/copy-editor's pen at the ready.
Cause that can be its own form of entertainment. *snob*
Meh, to me a properly 'long' book is like 500 - 800 pages. Ref: Flanagan's
The Tenants Of Time. Just f.e. , bc unfort there are very few GOOD books of recent vintage that are anything close to long as that one (& it's rly good too, beautifully written, historically consistent (w/only the small literary license taken which is specified in the Author's notes) & such
That sort of stuff is my fave
Which pretty much lets out the VC Andrews type thing.
Mostly
So: Given that one reader's boring pacing, trite story line, execrable writing, & abominable "structure", is another person's can't-put-it-down entertainment -- therein lies a problem bc I'm already expecting to be unimpressed. Unfair.
Niece-God-dau is rly pressing the "omgz this is sooo good I'll lend it you; a MUST READ!!".
Geek will I throw it accross the room after the first 3 chapters (or maybe 3 PAGES?) d'you think? Bc srsly I want to check out the excitement & see what ppl like in it, & stuff : HOWEVER there is a dang limit ?
*grin* & btw:said god-dau/niece is a nurse

-- v competent clinician - who doesn't happen to be a book person normally, & not particularly well- read outside her career field. She has multitudinous other talents (she's a painter for one,) & lotsa other artsy stuff:, but . Reading not so much. Hence

w/her excitement over these books etc
Obv i'm missing something?
Or not.
