| | | I doubt it, I'd be way behind. I'm just not suited to this kind of thing, I'm way too hyper-critical.

| | | well, i joined today and i have around 200 words... i don't know if i'll make it, and even if i do the plot (if there is one) will be haphazard and slapdash.
you never know, this could be what you were born to do... (think Mrs Doyle saying 'go on Father... just a wee cup' sort of jazz)

And noggin: I'm just kidding. Basically I want to do something set in the traditional type of fantasy novel universe - D&D, sword and sorcery, you know the drill - but not knowing anything about horses and believing that destiny is stupid (among other things) I've had to adapt the standard model quite a lot to make it usable. I've got a whole world nicely planned out in my head, just have no decent plots to set within it.

| | | Oh man, I've taken a couple of days' break? What shall I do? I'm going to need to do a good 15,000 this weekend. At least. Bad eggs.

| | | Write a whole chapter in the style of Fagarina?
Is collaboration actually allowed? I'm thinking, if two people work on this it'd be easier, especially if they were doing, say, two parallel narratives that only occasionally "touch".
If you want a spare 1000+ words, you can have that stuff about Ramon's mother getting nailed by a Jesuit. God knows how you'd work it into your plot but hey, every little helps, right?

I dunno, I always end up with some humorous aspects of anything I write, purely to keep myself interested, but it's more the way things are described than what's actually going on in the plot. I tend to just look at the conventions of genres and try to poke holes in them or avoid them.
So, like, in this, whenever possible, I would either avoid "quests", or at least try and come up with reasons why people would be on them. The idea that people just go off looking for the Lost Diamond Of Thr'rorx just to say they have it, or even just because it's supposedly "their destiny", just doesn't make sense to me.
The problem is, if you insert realistic motives into highly stylised genres (horror, action, etc.) you always end up with some kind of comedy, whether you like it or not.
