| | | Christopher Pike Did anyone read his books when they were teens? I read them when I was younger, and bought them at this local used bookstore. I've dug them out, and I re-read the first one I ever read, Remember Me, and I must say it was pretty fucking awesome. I read the sequel and was a bit let-down, but nonetheless thought it was throughly good book. Now I'm reading one of his adult novels, The Season Of Passage, and it's quite hard to put down. I'm about one hundred and fifty pages into it, it's pretty amazing. |

| | | haha. yes, i read him as a kid. some of his young adult stuff is actually fairly well-written and interesting, considering what the YA market was flooded with in the early to mid 90s. i think he could've been an bestseller on the adult charts had his adult work been a bit stronger - most of it is very sci-fi heavy and i don't really go there.
the season of passage was pretty good, but you ought to track down sati. it's wonderful (though not really horror).

| | | I've been thinking of picking up Sati, but it's kind of hard to find, well sort of. Isn't it about a girl (obiviously named Sati) who claims to be God? I kind of like the sci-fi edge some of his books have, but I don't know if I could read something STRAIGHT sci-fi you know. I have the book The Tachyon Web, which I believe is his only 100% sci-fi book.
Oh and did you ever read Whisper Of Death? OMFG that book gave me chills! |

| | | Wow, this brings back many memories. I loved his books when I was a teenager, Die Softly and Witch were my faves. I was also a Point Horror nerd.

Oh and did you ever read Whisper Of Death? OMFG that book gave me chills! | whisper of death is probably his best YA book. it's quite creepy to me as well. sati is out of print, but you could check used book stores or buy online. i'd send you mine, but i've got a first edition hardcover i'd rather not part with. i just looked at my bookshelf (well, one of them), and i've got another of his adult novels - the cold one. i don't think it was that great, although it was apparently alright as i do remember finishing it. the problem is that he intended to finish the story with another book but never did. if you decide you want to read that one and can't find it (it may be out of print also), i could probably send the paperback i've got your way. | | They're all out of print to my dismay, and I understand why you wouldn't want to part with your first edition, I wouldn't want to either!!! I prefer the mass market paperbacks anyway . I've already ordered The Cold One and The Listeners from ebay and I ordered a copy of Whisper Of Death, that one is probably my favorite.
It is definitley his best YA book...it gives me the major CREEPS. And how about this for an opening line:
"I sit alone in a dead world. The wind blows hot and dry, and the dust gathers like particles of memory waiting to be swept away." |

| | I absolutely loved Remember Me.
Actually it was supposed to be a trilogy, but I never read the other two books... I really should try to find them on eBay or something.
I really liked Monster, too... the Spooksville series was really disappointing though. |

| | | The second one was pretty good, I haven't read the third one in awhile, but I plan on reading it soon!
They're fairly easy to find on ebay (The Remember Me trilogy), I've been doing alot of Christopher Pike ebay hunting.
I read Monster awhile back , and I remember that one being insane!
Isn't Spooksville Pike's equivalent of Goosebumps? |

| | I read those (The Baby-Sitter) A LONG time ago. I remember them being pretty good, but I imagine my opinion has changed quite a lot since then
R.L. Stine is complete crap in comparison to Pike. Seriously, it's pathetic. Looking at some of his books, they're suitable mainly for pre-teens or teenagers. And that is about it.
EDIT: OMFG, I JUST GOT WHISPER OF DEATH IN THE MAIL!!! *DOES THE FUCKING SNOOPY DANCE*!!!

| | | In grade seven, a student teacher suggested that if I like Christopher Pike, I might like Dean Koontz so I attacked him like feral cat. He wasn't so pretty after that, the dumb fuck.
All my suspensions from school were high strung, chick suspensions (for shit like clawing people or smoking). I wish I could have got a guy suspension just once, for fucking or having a smart mouth. Something that indicated a big brass pair of testicles hanging between my smooth, milky white thighs. |

i thought i was the only one who thought that!!! i haven't read the book in 10 years but every time i think of ghosts i think of remember me. |

You should seriously pick up the first one again. The book gives me the teen horror/suspense hornies . |
