I love Edward Gorey <3
I have a Doubtful Guest tattoo because I'm a massive sucker for its cuteness.

I can't remember any books with pictures, but I remember loving the following:

Enid Blyton's "The Famous Five"
Comtesse de Ségur's "Après la pluie, le beau temps"
Lucy Maud Montgomery's "Anne" series

These are really the books that made my childhood. I must have read most of them by these authors.

I also loved the "Alice" series by Caroline Quinn, but I googled her and can't find the English versions for her books, so I don't know if the main character's first name is even Alice in the original version.

I did some work in an all girls primary school when I was 17, and I remember the reception class had a P.E. lesson where they were combining having just read "Where The Wild Things Are" with gym.

Twenty fiveish 4 year old girls leaping around growling at me and pretending with every ounce of imagination in them to be monsters = possibly the cutest thing I have ever seen.
I think I've actually posted that before but it was one of the best stuff ever, so...

When they were super little they liked "I'll Love you Forever" and "Goodnight Gorilla" at night time. They would read anything but they went through phases of what was the favorite. I can't remember all of them anymore but I could go to the kids section of B&N and pull them all.

My daughters both loved the Junie B. Jones series. Their second grade teacher read them the first book "Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus" and after that my kids gobbled them up. They were 6/7. My youngest loved the Magic Treehouse series too from ages 8 through 11.

I loved Curious George when I was really little and I had a book of ASOP's Fables I read constantly.
