Postcards From The Edge by Carrie Fisher

Has anyone else here read this?
I thought it was amazing, right up in there in my top three slightly-crazy-emotionally-distraught-female-narrator books. In between The Bell Jar (which ranks as number one) and Prozac Nation (in last place). mmmhmmm.

I don't know much about Carrie Fisher and haven't seen many of her movies. But from what I do know: that she was an actress, and her mother was an actress; I'm going to guess that this book was if anything, roughy based on her life. I couldn't help but consider that, at least, the entire time I was reading it. Who knows, though. If anything it was a good read.

Thoughts, opinions, praises, criticism?

I liked, but thought it was a little lightweight. Perhapos because she was already fixed in my mind as Princess Leia. Also because I suppose I have little patience with people who only have to work if they feel like it. I understand people with money can be unhappy, and I've never experienced serious financial deprivation myself, but I have to deal with going to an office five times a week so matter how much I'd rather stay in bed and wallow in my pain. I can't help feeling that I'd be much less emotionally distraught if I had once been paid way too much money for a movie.

I agree with you there, if I had millions dollars and I was living in a paradise, no way would I be in very much emotional pain. I've never read this book though, and I kind of like Carrie Fisher though. I'll have to look this one up and see if it's at my library or not.

I bet she was stoked that Meryl Streep played her in the film. If only she had a more interesting accent... then Meryl could have been really stretched...
