Who else read this as a kid? I really think it was about the best picture book I read. I hope kids are still reading this...

I want a copy... I really loved that book, despite the fact it was my sister's, and not mine. I'd really like to find a copy now, it'd make my month.

Can any non-computarded people (i.e. not me) post pictures from this wondrous book? Post every page and totally breach copyright, if you must. I won't tell.

I got thinking about it again after I went with Cheshirecat to a cool second-hand clothing store called The Paper Bag Princess, that had huge illustrations from the book over the walls... I also got a cool jacket that I want to never stop wearing.

Apparently there's an animated version posted on youtube but the audio is horrible so I'm not going to bother.

That is awesome news. I can't believe I had pretty much forgotten its existence for a while, given how much I loved it as a kid.

How ironic! I actually just found a copy from when I was a kid! I just re-read it. I had forgotten about it for years!
I love this book. I adore the ending.
I'm keeping it until I have kids.

I think it was our most requested book in 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade for our teacher to aloud read to us. To this day, when I think of "feminism" I think of that book. Take that however you please. But it's totally a sister's kind of book, and I'm glad to hear the boys like it, too.

i loved this book when i was a kid.
there used to be a vintage clothing store called 'paper bag princess' in auckland that had the illustrations from this book as murals on the wall. it was so cool!

Such a great story, with great art too.
Robert Munsch was probably my favorite author as a child.
