| little tales of misogyny by patricia highsmith does she really have a thing against women? judging from the title i expected irony. and it's there, but there are also times i get the impression she's serious. she really thinks women are idiots who **** everything up. either way, these stories are ****ed up and hilarious.
one of the things that surprised me while reading the first ripley book was what a ****ing idiot marge is. it gets the point where it seems depicting this woman as a ****ing moron provided the author with great satisfaction.
in the book she starts out gwynethesque, and then deteriorates into an airhead lush. it's hard to even take her seriously towards the end. her stupidity and tom's seething hatred for her become a source of comic relief. |
