| | | Da Vinci Code Has anyone else read this. My boyfriend pressured me into it and I really didint wanna read it. Im so glad i did now! Its a pretty neat story. It annoys me when people take things as the gospel.
Id reconmend this book to you all.
Dan Brown seems liek a really intelligent man to write such a flowwing book. His other books are supposed ti be even better too! I will definatly be reading them soon.
Please everyone read the book before you watch the film!!! |

| | | Good story, terrible writing with totally flat characters. I think a movie adaptation will be an improvement. |

| | | his other books arent better. they all have the exact same build up, if youve read the da vinci code you basicly have read deception point and angles and demons.
and his writing is just really bad. like requiem said. its like a murder she wrote episode dragged out onto 400+ pages. |

| | | awh i thought the writing was pretty good. the analysis, typical character building. it was a complicated story some peple may not understand that he managed to describe in a comprehendable way. |

My big problem with it was the writing WAS so simple...I read harder books in 6th grade. No wonder it's so massively popular. People who probably never read picked it up and felt "educated" as a result.

Dan Brown doesn't have that, he's really clunky...especially the way he tried to insert "history" lessons into fiction. I expected that with these hugely controversial ideas he, ahem, "borrowed" from elsewhere, the writing would blow me away. And it didn't, 'cause it sucked. And his characters are underdeveloped. I think the novel could have been much better with a different writer. Go read Foucault's Pendulum instead.

Im sure lots of other people liked this book. Im sure lots of other peple didint. Just because you have an opinion on dan browns writing that you dont care for doesnt mean everyone else should take your word for it |

You started this thread with "Has anyone else read this." I guess you weren't looking for opinions unless they were the same as yours. If you don't want to have a legitimate discussion about it, then go hang out on a Dan Brown fan board. |

| | | yes, i've read it, twice. the story is fascinating and it's a real page-turner. i couldn't put it down to go to sleep. the writing is nothing special but the plot i guess makes up for it. i didn't like the last 20-something pages, though. too slow. can't wait for the movie.

| | | i liked it. the writing really could have been better and the way he had like a hundred chapters in that small book annoyed me. i think he completely missed 'how to divide your book into chapters 101'
but otherwise, it was a good reading. i read angels & demons (more exciting but isnt as good as da vinci code, still good), deception point (meh), digital fortress (good). |

| | | I was impressed that the only time I have ever seen someone I know buying a copy was actually at an airport bookstore. I read the first couple of pages once, but then put it down. |

But yea, I never really liked Da Vinci Code, but it was a good story. My dad read it when he was in hospital, and the short chapters were really good for holding his attention. He could read one or two, then fall asleep, but feel pretty acomplished, you know? | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
