| | | Fight Boredom- a new comp zine! Alright I hope I'm posting this in the right forum, I wasn't 100% sure where to go...
Some of you may remember me from a long time ago, I used to post on the old KR as Ava Bizarre. I mostly posted in The Trading Post, trading my zine Culture Slut. I joined this board as London Panic, but that didn't stick, so this time... hopefully I'm here for good.
Anyway, I'm writing a new compilation zine called Fight Boredom, and I'm currently seeking submissions for issue #1, which should be finished by mid-June. Most of the zinesters I trade with these days are people that I've met online, and I'm trying to change that. I'm trying to introduce zines and DIY culture to my small hometown, beginning with Fight Boredom. I lived in Ottawa for a while, and I loved it, but I promised myself that if I wound up back in Lindsay, I would do whatever I could to make the town awesome; Fight Boredom is just one of the projects I'm working on.
I'd like articles from people who live in a small town, or were raised in one, on things such as how to have fun in a small town, and how to deal with the small town mentality. Additionally, I'd like interesting articles on things such as feminism, activism, art, DIY/indie culture, DIY tutorials, world issues, and whatever else you think you can write something interesting on.
The deadline for submissions for issue #1 is June 1st. More info can be found here: www.myspace.com/fight_boredom or reply here if you have any questions or comments.

| | | You're in the right place!
I'm currently working on my dissertation, so I'm out of action for the next little while, but I'd like to write at some point (I'm almost finished my 4 year degree in Journalism) so if you need anything for the issue after, let me know...

I'm trying to use this zine as an introduction to indie/DIY culture in my small town, so I'd really like to know about people's experiences in small towns, plus articles on feminism, activism, et cetera. DIY tutorials, vegetarian recipes... all that good stuff. |
