Black Swan Green

Anyone else read this? I've just finished it and I rather liked it, although it is SO different from Cloud Atlas (I also loved that). Bit like a more serious, better written Adrian Mole.

It is very different, but I still really enjoyed it. He's a very talented writer. Its quite interesting, I think Black Swan Green is a bit autobiographical. It seems to fit in with the authors age and where he grew up. I'm quite interested to read some of his other works now too.

I thought it was well lovely, but also suspect that he wants to make extra £$£$ with a book that can go on teh approved reading lists for schools. You can make a mint on that library/Arts Council/school book group tip.

It is true that schools love to select books that are about teenagers so teenagers can "relate", which is completely stupid because the whole point of novels is if they are well written you can relate to anyone. Don't see why Cloud Atlas couldn't be on the schools list, its not like its obscene. Especially since one english group in my year studied The Cement Garden...
