ok so I started reading this book, don't say any spoilers because I've just begun and I'm so traumatized!!!!! This book is so hard to read!!!!! I'm like in chapter 5 and I have no idea what is going on. It's like nothing stays. Damn stream of conciousness!!!!!!!! it's so fucking confusing. Did it happen to you too?=

one of the reasons i liked that book is because of the stream of consciousness type of writing. but that's just me. i guess it depends on how used to this style is someone and if they enjoy it.

well it's the first time I've read a book like that. I prefer books that are more straight to the point you know?

I felt that way when I first started it but I figured out I had to be in the right frame of mind to read it.

and what was that?

just a thoughtful, daydreamy state. otherwise my mind would wander.

At first I found the rhythm of the writing daunting but I pushed through and just read and read, barely pausing until I got a good chunk of it done. It really helped...the ideas were more apparent and I have a real appreciation for Woolf now. She was really ahead of her time.

I know it's so daunting. I still don't know what's going on with the story but I'll finish it. There's this scene or part or whatever were Mrs. Ramsey is like fixing a sock of her child or something( it is so complicated I can't even remember the characters or the relationships between them), and she goes into this 3 page long stream of consciousness, detailing everything Mrs. Ramsey was thinking, and then at the end of the 3rd page she comes back to the sock. I was like "Fuck!!!!! jesus christ" I LOVED it. I don't know why. I loved getting into the character's head, it felt real because that's what happenes inside our heads too.
