| | | The only one I've read is Galapagos, but I'd recommend it to anyone. It's just a really well-written story about evolution that should be given to kids at school when they start learning about Darwin; it answers a lot of the questions that the Creationists mob rely on people not knowing the answers to. |

I'm going to read that one. And recommend it to one of the budding atheists in my English class.

" | The Exclusive Brethren (aka Hanky Heads) have a multi-campus school with branches opening all over New Zealand and in a sub-Mormon stylee are using their business success to pay generously for teachers. Lots of money, small class sizes, well behaved (ie. whipped) kids: hell, I almost considered applying for a job with them myself. They have to get outsiders in to teach because their "higher education is badd" policy means " Whoops! No qualified teachers in our church!"

But Kurt Vonnegut: yeah. Who do you rate as the top 20th century novelist with a Cornell connection: Vonnegut, Pynchon or (at a push) Nabokov?
