You may not know him by his books, but if you're a UKer, his book 'Line Of Beauty' (which won the Booker prize) was adapted into a drama last year by the BBC.
Anyway, so far I've read 'The Spell' and 'The Folding Star'. The Folding Star is about a middle aged teacher and his obsession of his 17 year old student Luc. A
very good book!
I'm reading 'The Swimming Pool Library' now- his first (and arguably best) novel.

A literary sensation and bestseller both in England and America, The Swimming-Pool Library is an enthralling, darkly erotic novel of homosexuality before the scourge of AIDS; an elegy, possessed of chilling clarity, for ways of life that can no longer be lived with impunity

Impeccably composed and meticulously particular in its observation of everything. it focuses on the friendship of two men: William Beckwith, a young gay aristocrat who leads a life of privilege and promiscuity, and the elderly Lord Nantwich who is searching for someone to write his biography and inherit his traditions.

Has anyone read any AH? I'm loving him so far, it's a shame he's only made 4 novels, really.
