Bram Stoker's Dracula 2. what is your least favorite movie that was based on a book?
I haven't read all the books that were made into movies, I either have just read the book or seen the movie 3. which book would you like to see be made into a movie?
Without a Doubt by Marcia Clark
The Abuse of Innocence: The McMartin Pre-school Trial. 4. generally, people tend to like the book more than the movie. tell me about a movie based on a book in which you liked the movie better than the book.
I guess Dracula 5. do you like to read the book before watching the movie or watch the movie before reading the book?
it's irrelevant to me because both things are different. I bought The Black Dahlia to read it before the book and I absolutely detested it, like I couldn't even finish it. I just skipped the chapters to the end to get a glimpse of what happens and then I gave it to an aunt because I couldn't deal with the fact that it was in my collection of books, I hated it THAT much.
I did read Memoirs of A Geisha before I saw the movie and I did like to have read it first, I guess I understood the movie more but sometimes the bokoks don't get released where I live so I don't get that chance a lot of the times. |

Silence of the Lambs, possibley. 2. what is your least favorite movie that was based on a book?
Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, I think. 3. which book would you like to see be made into a movie?
House of Leaves (it would be hard though) 4. generally, people tend to like the book more than the movie. tell me about a movie based on a book in which you liked the movie better than the book.
Hmmmmmmm. I'm going to have to go with Pride and Prejudice. I never really got into the book but I loved the BBC film. 5. do you like to read the book before watching the movie or watch the movie before reading the book?
Watch the movie then read the book, but normally it's the other way around.

| | | 1. what is your favorite movie that was based on a book? the Exorcist & Cabaret
2. what is your least favorite movie that was based on a book? Memoirs of a Geisha. that's one of my favourite books, and although the film looks good, the adaptation to screen is dreadful.
3. which book would you like to see be made into a movie?
i hadn't really though about this much, but Petal's answer House of Leaves has lots of potential.
4. generally, people tend to like the book more than the movie. tell me about a movie based on a book in which you liked the movie better than the book. i do declare this has never happened
5. do you like to read the book before watching the movie or watch the movie before reading the book? read the book. i feel sad that people have watched the Da Vinci Code movie and think that that's what I was making all that fuss about. it leaves all the interesting bits & pieces out. |

| | | Like I said, it's rare for me to have read the book and seen the movie, it's either one of them, but I did read memoirs of a geisha and I thought the movie was a very decent adaptation.
What bothered me was the hair, I mean the geishas always had their hair done, it wasn't a do they had for just one day.
Something got lost in the end, in the book when Hatsumomo is thrown out of the okiya, she has had washed her hair and she had it long down her shoulders, and it was the first time Sayuri had seen her like that and it she looked even more beautiful than when she had the geisha hair.
Hatsumomo also had to be prettier, I mean the book she's like the most beautiful woman in Gion, in the movie she was kinda normal looking.
Pumpkin was portrayed perfectly. |

there's a feature on the dvd where they talk about how they tried to make the film have a contemporary feel to it or some other filmtalk horseshit, and i really think this spoiled the film
sayuri looked too western. yeah, hatsumomo was totally gorgeous. there was some good casting, & i cried my eyes out all girly fashion when sayuri kissed the chairman after all those years, but on the whole i was disappointed. |

TRAINSPOTTING 2. what is your least favorite movie that was based on a book?
Probably Lolita (Stanley Kubrick version, anyways) wasn't terrible though.
Or the Black Dahlia, because it made no fucking sense. 3. which book would you like to see be made into a movie?
The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test maybe? Auctually maybe not.. hah maybe something by Charles Bukowski. 4. generally, people tend to like the book more than the movie. tell me about a movie based on a book in which you liked the movie better than the book.
Queen Mab said Fight Club too, which is good. I'm glad I'm not alone. ahah
Mind, I saw the film first that could be it, but I also like the ending of the film way better. 5. do you like to read the book before watching the movie or watch the movie before reading the book?

To Kill A Mockingbird (runners up = One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and Catch22, which is a better movie than book) 2. what is your least favorite movie that was based on a book?
Lots of awful movies were based on awful books, that i've read and seen it would have to be Day Of The Triffids, good book, awful B movie but worth a laugh. 3. which book would you like to see be made into a movie?
It's not as good a medium 99% of the time but i guess On The Road or Catcher In The Rye might be good in skillful hands. 4. generally, people tend to like the book more than the movie. tell me about a movie based on a book in which you liked the movie better than the book.
Catch-22, i think the movie is a masterpeice Mike Nichols is an excellent filmmaker and this is his most beautiful cinematography. The book, while very good, isnt as good as most make out imo. No where nearly as grossly overrated as Hitchhickers Guide though 5. do you like to read the book before watching the movie or watch the movie before reading the book?
I really don't mind all that much, i'd seen plenty of films before i read the book and still really enjoyed both. Good writers tend to make subjects you have very little empathy or interest for come alive and feel amazing, they can also make a story you already know come alive. |

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
2. what is your least favorite movie that was based on a book?
Valley of the Dolls was terrible. The theme song was the only good thing about it, and even that was kind of shitty.
3. which book would you like to see be made into a movie?
Courtney Love: Queen of Noise. It has camp classic potential. Or The Big Nowhere by James Ellroy.
4. generally, people tend to like the book more than the movie. tell me about a movie based on a book in which you liked the movie better than the book.
Psycho.
5. do you like to read the book before watching the movie or watch the movie before reading the book?

Fight Club
2. what is your least favorite movie that was based on a book?
The Hobbit (not the new one that's coming out, the 1990's one that's animated and has the queerest damned folk music ever, I have it on VHS)
3. which book would you like to see be made into a movie?
Uhm, I can't think of many. One Hundred Years of Solitude would be interesting, if made correctly. Which would be hard.
4. generally, people tend to like the book more than the movie. tell me about a movie based on a book in which you liked the movie better than the book.
Ghost World, but I still love the "book," too.
5. do you like to read the book before watching the movie or watch the movie before reading the book?
Either way.

trainspotting
2. what is your least favorite movie that was based on a book?
the newest narnia film they released, the old one was amazing the new one was just awful. It just didn't capture the magic of the book. I adore the books though so Im also hard to please
3. which book would you like to see be made into a movie?
Wise Children by Angela Carter would make a great film
I'd also like to see a decent film based on the whole Iliad story, I mean stuff they release about the Trojan war ect is totally shite and I can't understand when the material these scriptwriters have to work with is amazing.
4. generally, people tend to like the book more than the movie. tell me about a movie based on a book in which you liked the movie better than the book.
Girl Interrupted, I found the book bland but just loved the film, I didn't realise it was actually a book at first either, I think I discovered that here.
5. do you like to read the book before watching the movie or watch the movie before reading the book?
I tend to watch the film then discover it was originally a book, then I read the book and often fall in love with it. The problem is I have a hard time disassociating the actors from the film from characters in the book so I can't really develop my own perception of things. |

4. generally, people tend to like the book more than the movie. tell me about a movie based on a book in which you liked the movie better than the book.

5. do you like to read the book before watching the movie or watch the movie before reading the book?
