so im about twenty pages from finishing this and HOLY. FKN. HELL.
bumping it up to somewhere in the top ten books i have ever read in my life to date.
so amazing.

I remember reading this when I was 15 or so. In Spanish it's called La casa de los espiritus. From then I read lots and lots of Allende. My other favorite is Eva Luna and historias de Eva Luna. El Plan infinito is also a powerful novel. Years ago she was signing books at a local bookstores and I got a bunch of signed copies.

Oh yeah and her memoir called Paula, after her daughter, is one of my favorite books. When I met her I was like, "My name is Paula too!" Oh god

i've never read any isabel allende, but i see her books everywhere. like she's stalking me.

Same! I always see her books at work. We only ever have the same book though, it's called Zorro and doesn't really sound like my kind of book. I will definitely look for this one though. <3

Actually I just remembered that there's a reading copy of Zorro in the staff room. I shall pilfer it.
