Ok, I have read a few of the books on the list already-highly recommend perfume, fear and loathing, norweigan woood and filth to people that haven't read them.
Personally, i would love to read candy of misconceptions because im a big fan of naomi wolf!

I read Perfume as part of a book club, it's very good.

I have a suggestions for a book worth considering:
1. A Short History of Tractors in Ukranian.

Best book i've read in quite a while, contained a lot of themes - sham marriages, family connections, history - war, Ukraina under communism.
