| | | I LOVED it. But then again, I love history, especially french history. I want to read more by Antonia Fraser, she's a great writer. I'm thinking Mary, Queen of Scots will be next. |

| | | I'm a history junkie and am very hesitant to put a book down, but this book got on my nerves a bit. I was really excited to read it after the intro and the back cover, but maybe I would have enjoyed the book if the book had been written more like that. I did want to know about her life fully, but I just got so fucking bored with the royal lineage being written about more than her. As far as my taste goes, take a chapter for explaining the background and then get to the fucking point.
Even my mom, who has way more patience and attention span then me, gave up on the book because it was so pretentious (and she's the biggest snob I've ever known). |

| | | I really like the book but I do agree about the royal lineage thing being kind of annoying. It's still a great book though. |

| | | at the first chapter when she talked about the royal lineage and all, it can get confusing. I really didn't understand the geanologic tree, I even thought Marie and Louis were first cousins! I mean it was that confusing to me but I realized they weren't related at all, well at least not closely.
I haven't finished it yet because I got distracted by another book, but I really liked how on the first chapter she gave a lot of interest to Marie's family. I loved getting an insight into Maria Teresa and her complicated relationship with her children, specially her daughters and how they were all jealous of Marie Christine. I just love that history gossip.
I also thought Josepha's death was so fucking freaky!!! |
