| | | books about time travel? i am interested in reading books about time travel. not theories of time travel, although i would read those too.
i want books in which time travel plays a prominent role.
madeleine l'engle's time quartet does this well, although its space/time travel.
something along those lines.
if you know any, please let me know. |

| | | Yeah, I was obsessed with time travel for awhile, and it had everything to do with Donnie Darko. There's a JG Ballard short story (someone travels back in time, kills a butterfly and alters the course of history forever) which I can't remember the name of right now, but it should be in any collection of his short stories, which are all very good.
Or there's always The Time Traveller's Wife?
A good theory based book is Black Holes, Worm Holes and Time Machines by JS Al-Khalili |

this book was adapted to a movie and is a recent DVD release here in australia. it's called 'a sound of thunder' and is an excellent movie to watch but no doubt, the book or short story would be amazing too. http://asoundofthunder.warnerbros.com/ |

i think it's a really good read and not too sci-fi-ey at all. in fact it's one of my favorite "go to" books |

| | | As a major Doctor Who geek I have read squillions of novels about time travel, there's a whole series of Doctor Who novels published by BBC Books designed for non-teenyboppers, but some are utter shite and all are rather fan-y, so on second thoughts I don't think I'd recommend them unless you're a fan. But won't edit. Be varned! |

Good anarcho-communist utopian novel about a mental patient who is in touch with
the future. |

| | | Starmaker by Stapledon is sort of a great time travel book, though it is an outterbody experience in which he experiences the future of the universe.
It isn't jumping into a machine or anything. Anyway, its the most ambitious book i've read. |

| | | The Time Traveller's Wife is a fucking amazing book.
I have read it four times.
Four times.
I might read it again. Now.
And it also raises the question "would you have sex with yourself if you could travel in time?", which very few people I know are prepared to answer. |
