what im reading in personality rehab

i'm away from the bars and tubs for at least three weeks. it's been one week so far.
drinking tons of water (it's so gross), doing power yoga to sweat the junk from my body and reading a lot.

read the black dahlia by james ellroy. very entertaining, easier to read than la confidential but he still kicks your ass with every line. not as good as the big nowhere though.
it annoyed me he gave a fictionalized account of a real case though. i'm not sure why, but i think i would have liked the book better if he just based the victim on elizabeth short instead of having it be her. but what the fuck do i know?

reading geek love by katherine dunn. this is alright, but i might not finish it. the writing is excellent and the author clearly has a great imagination but i'm not getting into the story at all.

reading madame bovary by gustave flaubert: why is this everyone's favorite book? i'm only reading this because that guy carmela fucked on the soprano's spoke highly of it, and i just read flaubert is bret easton ellis' favorite author.

reading alias grace by margaret atwood

not reading war & peace: i've started it a bunch of times. i enjoy it until the war parts and then just get bored. i don't even care anymore.

i have two other atwood books sitting around. the handmaids tail & the blind assassin.
i'll probably get to them next.

i want to read all this stuff by the end of the year so i don't have to feel like the kind of asshole who buys books for decoration. that's such a date rapist thing to do. "oh yeah, i have everything woolf's ever written...drink up babe"

I loathe Margaret Atwood. I tried to read THT but couldn't do it. I read the short story Bluebeard's Egg too, and she just pissed me off so much. I don't know enough to understand why I hate her so much but I find her an incredibly irritating writer.
My friends love her and so does my boyfriend. Sucks to be me.
