My mum got me a library card as soon as I started learning to read and after that I went at least twice a week for years. I was one of those kids with stacks and stacks of books all over the place.

At the moment I hardly go unless it's for books relating to my degree. I should go more, and I want to, it's just that doing so much reading for my course (damn you, english literature) means I get kind of tired of it by the time I come to actually doing any reading for pleasure.

i always went to the library when i was little. it was such a treat when my mom would take me! i was such a dorky kid. i went to all the story times and everything they had there too.

i still have my first library card that i got when i learned how to sign my own name. but i don't go that much anymore because funding in my area is so low that the library can't afford to stay open regular hours, and it seems the only time it's open is when i'm at work.

yeah the funding is a big issue.

ideally i'd like to work in a public library but i can make up to 10k more in an academic one and that's an issue for me at the moment

my library back home is absolutely tiny (i'm from a very small village in the countryside). it only opens on tuesday and thursday afternoons or something silly. and they're thinking of getting rid of it and just having a bookmobile service.

i also love the smell of old books. through last summer i did a lot of research at the british libary and the books i used had the most gorgeous smell

Thumbs up

ha, neat timing for this thread.
i just went to the public library in my new town yesterday.
i went to get a card, it will be here tomorrow.
anyways, I LOVE THE LIBRARY.
in my old city, i used to go to the library at least 2 times a month.
when i was a heavy reader, i'd go once a week.
libraries get me all wet and stuff.
i love them.
