| | | I'm a reader and I think fan fic is great, I've been addicted for a couple of years now. I did attempt to write once or twice but didn't get past the first paragraph due to my ultra short attention span and lack of inspiration. In the fandom I read in, I find that a lot of the authors are better writers than the idiots that screwed the TV show up.

| | | Didn't a fic writer for Buffy get to write for the actual show? I thought that was really cool. Roswell is the show/fandom I read fic in and they had a great season one but went down the tubes in the following two seasons, so writing/reading fic became a necessity just to help get over the bitterness.

| | | I write fanfiction. I've been in the fandom community for about 6 years now.
I mostly write Sailormoon Fanfics. I wrote a Buffy fic once... I can't find it.
I read SailorMoon, Dragonball Z, R.Kenshin, harry Potter, Buffy. |

| | | Used to read and write masses of Doctor Who fan fiction (and a bit of Blake's 7 too), but I haven't made much time for it over the last few years. Read a bit of LOTR slash when it was still exciting and new, but I got over it. It was always way too tame, basically just read like LOTR written by Patrick White. |

| | | I read some really bad fan fiction involving Franz Ferdinand once. It involved Alex Kapranos (sp?) being a rent boy in his youth and turning tricks with Morrissey. |

All the fan fiction I've had anything to do with had vaguely literary (or TV) origins, and fans expanding on it seemed to make more sense. I never thought of dodgy fan fiction involving musicians. Unless they were novelists too. Is there Nick Cave fan fiction? Birthday Party gang-bangs? |

| | | I read the rent boy one, a girl who was on my friends list wrote that.
I also once read a steamy Jason Newsted/Cookie Monster smut fic, that one was really fucking disturbing.

I haven't ever read fan fic because it seemed kind of lame. But that sounds REALLY entertaining. Do you have a link? |

I read one about Monty Python's Graham Chapman once, about him turning straight and seducing ladies. It was pretty disturbing and graphic and really quite sick, given that he's been dead for 17 years. |

| http://www.metslash.cjb.net/ - it's in there somewhere amongst all the other gross Metallica slash fics. Another favourite was a fic where Lars cheated on James with Bob Rock, haha.
Edit: I went and looked through the authors and found the fic under 'Hayz'. Ick.

| | | all of the like 5 pieces of fan fiction i've read start out well and nice, but then quickly disolve into describing the sex acts Hermoine and Harry are performing on Professor Snape.
is that common in fan fiction? bizarre sex stories about the Gilmore Girls and Harry Potter characters?

I read that as "When my friend Mac died..." and I thought, how can he speak so casually about his friend dying? And how did that make him lose his fan fiction? |

| It's not all smut. Most band fiction seems to be but stories based on TV/films/books have all sorts of stories. In my fandom, fic is a way of 'fixing' shitty storylines or explaining plotholes, with a few smut fics thrown in.
