My mum likes Evanesence. It's odd, the rest of her music is all somewhat "typical," but she's open-minded to new music anyways, so this was only the intro.
My dad loves the blues usually, but he likes Belle & Sebastian and some of the bands that I've gotten into in the past 3 years. And I've gotten into all the bands he was into and his history in the 60's and 70's. He actually played with The Guess Who, snuck into a Deep Purple concert in disguise as a buisiness man and sat in the front row, was at the first performance of The Who's Tommy live, and was at some of the first shows of Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Steppenwolf (Jack & The Sparrows or something before the name change and move to the USA). That was my first real bridge over to what my dad was like.
Lord knows what happened to him. No huge offense or anything. Most people just lose touch in turn for crappy fears and weird morals when they get older.
P.S. I wish I knew more hippies.
