what's everyone doing tonight?

i feel like i haven't a friday night out w/ kr in a long time.

anyone have any wild plans for the evening?

me.

i'm drinking a cola, masking, and watching tiny furniture.

lena dunham and her whole hipster scene.

it's a demographic i love to hate, but secretly just love.

to watch on tv, anyway.

my trick from this afternoon hooked up my dvd player for me.

so then i went to library and got a stack of dvds to watch.

- tiny furniture
- greenberg
- gonzo (hunter s. thompson doc)
- magnolia

plus, i bought a used copy of martha marcy may marlene this afternoon.

so i'm camped out watching dvds and kr'ing w/ cola drinks.

Magnolia is the most depressive film I've ever watched. I actually wanted to kill myself after seeing it, I had to go and stay with a friend for 2 days.

Tonight I'm awake at the wrong times so I'm pulling an all nighter with CSI and other things to watch, then going to a BBQ on the middle of nowhere in Anglesey. I hope it involves boating. Awake-for-24-hour-boating.

i always hear how good and epic magnolia is.

i've tried watching it twice. i don't know what it is about it -- something technical, i'm sure. but, i've never sat through more than the first 15 minutes of it. i am determined to watch and love it this time.

also. i went to the goodwill today. because i wanted to find a little stand for tv. i didn't find one, but i got a stack of good books. at the goodwill here -- all books are just 1 dollar!

i got:

the brooklyn follies - paul auster
a visit from the goon squad - jennifer egan
devil in the white city - erik larson
a home at the end of the world - michael cunningham (!!!)
the adventures of augie march - saul bellow

i also got an old gap sweater that i'm going to use to make coasters w/.

I'm planning on cooking a big Italian meal - i've been shopping for pasta, bolognese sauce, onions and garlic, red wine, garlic bread and mixed salad ingredients like beetroot and gouda.
Drinking red wine and cooking makes me happy.

Later i have Notes on a Scandal to watch when i'm in bed. with ice cream and the cat.

so, pretty much, Saturday night is off the chain. for a 67 year old.

I liked Devil in the White City.

I am doing nothing tonight. It is busy season for my husband, and it's been crazy this year. I took all last week off, and am taking part of next week, to transition the kid from nanny to preschool/daycare, and he's basically working all the time. Tomorrow is the one day all week that I'm not sololing.
