If I'm not mistaken, didn't Brandon eventually break up with Emily and call her out out being anti-Semitic, or was that another one of Brandon's girlfriends I'm thinking of? I think the show nosedived once Shannen Doherty left and Tiffani Amber Thiessen, Tiffani Thiessen (or whatever she's calling herself these days) was introduced as the token "girl-gone-off-the-railz". Mind you, the episode where she lobs the turkey at Jennie Garth is television gold, IMHO.
