lol, its not hipsters per se, just the ones with the big ear holes. I want to sing to them, the "Do your ears hang low? Do they waggle to and fo, can you tie em in a knot, can you tie em in a bow?" song.
I'm in the NE off of Killingsworth/Alberta area. I pay 450$ a month for a room with bills included. Prices come in ALL different ranges in every area. I kept an eye on craigslist for a while to see. You can get something very reasonabled if you get a car and free to drive, its the ones close to town and public trans thats a bit pricey. Ive seen as low as 250$ a month even, but it was a dude who had a furnished loft and asked if you could be his life coach simultaneously, he may have had mental health issues.
I didnt have a job when I got here, the rule is two months. It usually takes two months to find one and thats exactly what happened for me. Ive seen some help wanted signs around town too.
450 is a good deal. i was living in NW before, just off 23rd. but that was ridiculously pricey for the tiny space i had. i'm actually thinking of looking around killingsworth/alberta as well, mostly because it's closer to pcc.
my room mate goes to PCC and is living here because of that. Do not live in NW or the Pearl district, **** is trendy/pricey as fuuuuuck. So not worth it, really it isn't. Alberta/Killings is pretty hip still and has "stuff" and is close to MAX and bus. Its all gentrified from what used to be section 8..
i want to move cities. i am so sick of not wanting to be here.
i think i'd choose durban if i were you. i have a couple of friends who moved here from durban 15 years ago and they boned on about how great their hometown was for ten of those years.
and isn't cape town full of white racist assholes? that was the impression my friends gave me, anyway.
