Then we go back up to my grandparent's on Christmas day around noon for presents, turkey, amd all the usual stuff. Nothing too crazy.
Yeah, she's the only member of my family who I actually look like at times. At art school, that one.

I love that you go and find your own tree!

you two definitely have a resemblance!

we will be getting a tree this weekend. i LOVE christmas decorations. i think i have 7 boxes now but maybe this year i'll pare down the **** i'm not using.

on christmas eve we pick one present to open. i will try to convince the family we need to go to church. sometimes they oblige. we haven't been at all any other time this year but i feel some urge to expose them to more than the consumer aspects.

christmas morning we wake up early and look at stockings and see what santa brought. i usually make some night-before breakfast thing that i can stick in the oven (sticky buns or chili cheese egg souffle). we don't let anyone go too crazy til we've had some coffee. open presents. call our parents & sisters. play with toys.

we usually have ham for christmas dinner in the interest of making something very easy. no turkey for us because we just had one in november. one year i made roast beef and yorkshire pud. mmmm. christmas dinner it's usually just the 4 of us.

this weekend we are riding this train with santa. it'll be our first time.

i put, around a doorway, the x-mas cards from my friends who've passed on.

maybe get some lights. idk if i want flashing or not.

this holiday reminds me my mom died around now

& i wish i could fast forward to January! i've had enough x-mas songs!

i will spend it w/my cat, as far as i know. as usual. i may get lights & trip out on them.

My only traditions are:

watching The Muppets Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve before bed. And AD/BC if there's time.

either my sister or me saying "God bless us, every one" before taking a big bite of something over christmas dinner, then pretending it's really hot and burning our mouth and the other shouting "ABORT! ABORT!" - which makes sense to us, but is too long and silly a story to tell.
