94 years ago today ...

The Titanic sank 94 years ago today killing over 1500 people.
What are you doing in remembrance?
I am going to wear a sailor suit and watch the movie. It will be my 53rd viewing of them film. I am meaning the 1997 version. I find it to be the most entertaining although I often watch the silent film and the one from the ... 60s? I think that's when it's from.
I will probably also read some of my Titanic books and possibly watch some documentaries. I also plan on at least acting like I'm going to work on my Titanic model kit.

Oh, they built the ship Titanic, to sail the ocean blue
And they thought they had a ship that the water wouldn't go thru
But the good Lord raised His hand, said the ship would never land
It was sad when the great ship went down.
Oh, it was sad, so sad
It was sad when the great ship went down
To the bottom of the sea
Uncles and Aunts
little children lost their pants
It was sad when the great ship went down.
O they were not far from shore when they heard that mighty roar
And the rich refused to associate with the poor.
So they put them down below where they'd be the first to go
It was sad when the great ship went down...
The California not a dozen miles away
never heard the SOS 'cus the crew had hit the hay
Captain and crew never knew that ship was through
It was sad when the great ship went down...
The moral of this story is very plain to see
Always wear a life preserver whenever you're at sea
Uncles and Aunts,
little Chilren Lost their pants
It was sad when the great ship when down...
Ker plunk it sunk! what a rotten piece of junk!
Double Bubble, You're in trouble
The end. Amen!

i'll admit that whenever one of those hokey sortof sci-fi titanic deep sea exploration shows comes on TV, i always get sucked into watching it.

the movie, wasn't my favourite. i remember turning in the theater to my mom and saying "jesus, when's the ship going to sink...!". it was boring until all the dying.

haha yeah, in the director's commentary on the Special Edition dvd, James Cameron says, "Okay... we're an hour and a half in. Most movies are ending now, and we haven't even hit the ice berg yet."
The sad part is, there were about a half hour of deleted scenes I totally thought should have made it in. Unfortunately that would make the movie nearly 4 hours long.
