A fine for not voting?

We get fined if we don't vote.... DEMOCRACY. I got away with it once cause I lived overseas and was more than 4 hours from the embassy but other than that you have to pay.
I voted last time, I drew a giant **** on the form and handed that in because I couldn't bring myself to vote for any of the ****s. So I also relinquish the whinging opportunities you get when you actually bothered to vote.

yesssss i was in perth! i then drove south and then drove back to perth and then drove north to shark bay n camped on the beaches. it was very friendly and relaxed and beautiful but soooooooo expensive.

I wasn't paying attention and didn't notice that I parked on a handicapped curb when I was visiting Washington DC. The ticket says that I still owe them $450 or something like that, but I just ignored it and it went away.

Of course, they didn't have my name or my driver's license, so it's not all that bad. :P

Oh, and I agree with the idea of paying it, given that it's international rather than just another state like in my story. It's a fairly small amount compared to the possibility of how much of a pain in the *** it might be.

Hey..the US could probably USE some kind of compulsory voting system. George Bush SR ...a current Congress with a 17% approval rating. Yes...we may be on the right road but we have many miles to that destination of a more perfect union lol.
