Financiers and Doctors and Lawyers make boatloads of money because what they do helps to keep the macro society stable and functioning and there is a universal need for their services. That doesn't mean that every person who works in a profession that isn't highly exportable and commercial to the rest of the world is somehow a fool.

Before we go castigating Solly and others for not joining the "big 3 (or however many other high dollar professions) why don't we take a moment to reexamine how THOSE professionals have been serving us lately, how much VALUE they have been giving us for our dollar?

I'll take a "lowly" art history major who does their ****ing job right every time over a whole plane full of glass half full ****wit "professionals" who can barely find time to improve their skills to barely passing between all of their wrongful convictions, misappropriated trades, surgical malpractices, and second home buying sprees.

You're definitely right though (international equivalencies, evidence etc not withstanding, personal bias definitely trumps that)
