it's just for my nerves, i swear. since i cut down on drinking i can't sleep.

i don't even want to ****ing drink. i don't like the feeling of being drunk anymore. in fact i hate it. but my stupid body craves alcohol.

i face this idiotic dilemma every day. i'm living at my mother's right now, how am i going to be like "oh hey mum i drank all your booze in a week" without her wanting to send me to rehab or something? i don't want to buy my own booze because we all know where that will lead.

i don't even know why i'm making this thread. just airing frustrations. wondering if anyone else has been through this and how they beat it?

I wouldn't cry about 1 drink a day?! I also don't really understand why people are called alcoholics, or recovering alcoholics, for their whole life and if they ever have 1 drink again they are relapsing and have failed as a human. I have also never been addicted to anything so maybe that's why i don't know.
Alcoholics are lame as ****. Everyone knows it so maybe you should think hard about that and smoke some weed to help you sleep. Or exercise until you have to sleep.

lol. i don't like weed much. it's never really done much for me?
a couple of times i have had really good stuff and it's made me sooooo happy and relaxed but that was seriously only a couple of times.
all other times=nothing.

i'm definitely not getting enough exercise living at my mum's! that's a huge problem.

You're using an alcohol as a crutch and I think you know you'd be better not to.

One drink surely isn't making the difference between you sleeping or being awake, one drink is pretty much nothing in those terms (especially for a heavy drinker). It's likely your own mind doing that. You have that anxious empty feeling and then you have just one drink and it's like you fixed it. Placebo effect?

I don't have any personal experience of alcoholism proper but I've used booze as a crutch during a period of depression and the sleeping/non-sleeping thing depending on alcohol was exactly what I experienced. And once I got out of that cycle and put booze in the category of **** that wasn't helping, I was less anxious about being without it. And eventually I could sleep like a normal person again.
