i think i would not do it, not with 20$, maybe 5$.
but then again, i would never even meet up with a random person who just happended to lend their phone to someone i know...
just as insomnia put it ever so rightly: i am a cynic (and not just about people)

i'm always skeptical of almost everything so i'd have so no to all of it - guy using my phone, guy asking me to meet, guy giving me money even if it's just to be nice and not expecting anything in return. but maybe i'm just *****y. which i'd feel bad about if it was someone genuinely being nice but then i'd be *****y anyway. maybe *****y is not the word. stand-offish and a bit cold?

No you're not *****y just smart. My mother's still going off over it and I wished I'd never mentioned this to my family.

Yes! and Originally, when I picked up my phone I assumed it was my friend Bill and didn't dawn on me when he said "this is Will" that I was speaking with the wrong person. So I sort of went off on a tangent like always until he asked me the second time who I was. Then he asked if this person was still at the gas station. So he tells me eventually after I quit blabbing that this person who borrowed my phone owed him money. You see the rest of the story...
