i dont feel uncomfortable strangely enough. i felt comforted? no one seemed wasted or anything, just

OH HAY WANT A BEER?

A WINE?

oh, a POP?

and the kids were hopped up on candy and everyone was friendly and shook my hand and said how happy they were to meet seth etc.

im going back over there at 9pm, and seth will have been there two hours. ill stay until seth wants to go home and chat with them. nice people. and it appears customary in erie to behave this way.

Its quite standard here I think? Or maybe just among my parents wine loving friends but we'd always come in and get kids stuff and they'd pour out glasses of wine and everyone would race around and they'd just chill and chat and keep a casual eye out. My friend with two kids says the best part of a play date is relaxing with the mum over drinks whilst the kids are excited enough about playing with new people to generally not be too demanding. Don't think anyone gets drunk at these things, not so they couldn't take care of kids, but I think they think its nice to have a chilled out adult time too?

I dunno though cause I am a teetotaller, so I'll never be the one drinking at the kids party.

Can you blame them? If I had to spend my friday evening around a bunch of ****in kids (especially considering how gorgeous the weather is right now) I'd be drinking too. Lots.

Hahah what Earthcrosser75 said. I don't recall the parents doing that when I was a kid, but my parents aren't big drinkers.

My only worry is that if something happened, no one would be under .05 to drive if needed. But if its just a casual-nurse-a-beer-for-an-hour then why not.

But then I'm Aussie.
