Ok, for those not in the know, i.e. North America and R.O.T.W, "Take A Break" is a British "human interest" magazine. Contributors send in various photographs and true life stories and the powers that be, if they deem them worthy enough, pay contributors cold hard cash.
I was THAT bored at work yesterday I grabbed a pile of "Take A Break" magazines from the staff room and spent the best part of the day entranced. Some woman from Inverness got £25 for a snapshot of her Bichon Frise puppy sitting in a laundry basket. A reader got £30 for a snapshot of her chihuahua puppy riding piggy back in her Jack Russell Terrier. Some slut got £200 for a tale of her boyfriend being sprung from prison, they were in a phone booth, they got horny, she gave him head and everyone stopped to take photos- this is a FAMILY magazine and this woman got PAID for telling how she performed a public BJ. I noticed though, the heart renching stories rake in the higher payments. A 60 year old woman who married her 21 year old Algerian toyboy and had her life savings stolen got £500 for sharing the story.
A few things now spring to mind:
1) Although printed in England, why are so many of the contributors disproportionately from Scotland? I really need to know.
2) Looking at the "cats and dogs" threads in the photo forum, we could be RAKING it in in terms of "cute". I suggest we should bombard "Take A Break" with cute pet pics.
3) I was going to post this in "The Written Word" but thought "Take A Break" magazine would be pushing it. Anyway, I was thinking, for shits and giggles, we could possibly come up with a
KR human interest story we can convert into cold hard moolah? I imagine they check stories out for authenticity, but what if we got some "conspirators" here to substantiate anything we came up with? If it's a love angle, that would be the easiest as no one could prove it right or wrong. Think of it - we could use the proceeds towards a tab for the next UK
KR meet up....
