Memories

Please tell me things you remember, particularly your first memory and significant nice things in your childhood.

And really good things about when you were young. Even if you had a bad childhood I bet you can still think of something nice if you try! Let's be positive.

I swear to god I can remember being born.

Wow, that's an early memory.

I remember being 2 or 3 and staying with my parents at a friend of the family's farmhouse. I was having my nap in one of their kid's rooms and the sunset was coming through the curtains, and the curtains were of Beatrix Potter characters.

I also remember being in my mum's room when I was 3, while she was dressing, and asking her where our baby was (because all my friends at nursery were having new babies in their familes) and she said "it's in my tummy". I think I was happy with that answer.

I used to always ask my mum did she take me swimming the day I was born. I have a very weird memory of being very small surrounded by water.

I remember my sister being born when I was three. I even remember what clothes I wore that day.

I remember getting an operation when I was 4, very very clearly remember the doctor asking me what my rabbit toy was called, and my mum said "Oh she changes the name of that bunny every day" and I said "Ashleigh" and so it remained forever.

Both of my earliest memories involve music. The first - I was sitting in the basement with my best friend. Her family had 8 kids and my brother and I hung out there daily. Anyway we listened to the Beatles a lot at their house and their Mom was a fan as were my friend Regina's older siblings. Everyone was crying nd playing Beatles records and the Beatles had just broken up.

The other - more detailed and vivid memory down to an actual image in my mind is my first visit to a recird store. I described it to my Mom and she said it belonged to her sister who was a hippy and moved to France in '77. She had the shop when I was four.

I remember hearing music louder than I ever had before. I remember there were psychedelic patterned bright cassette boxes in a glass case. There were records hanging from the ceiling. There were people in glass booths listening to albums. I bought my first single - a reissue of Rock and Roll is Here to Stay and At the Hop. I had my own record player and I wore that thing out.

that is cute hg

I have a memory of a recurring dream, I am not sure when this was but i remember it was very early 90s when I was under 6 years old.

It was of me as an adult, waking up from the middle of an operation with my stomach sliced open and I start screaming and running and everything falls out of me. I remember it so vividly and I dreamed it a lot and only when I think about it now do I realise I could not possibly have known then what guts or anything looked like. I'm scared I know I said positive so...

I had a wendy house in my garden when I was little and I remember my dressing up box, I put on some green glasses and got inside the wendy house and peeked out the window and said 'Hiya Mum!' in an american accent and my mum kept making me say it over and over because it made her laugh, I was only about 5.
