Anywhere, really. There aren't any specific stores I prefer to shop in. What matters is whether they have the CDs I want. Stores I have bought CDs in include HMV, Virgin, Tower Records, Roxy Records and Record Rack. Various markets. I usually buy CDs online via eBay or Amazon.com.

My own personal taste is reflected depending on how good/bad the music is, not how mainstream/obscure it is.

I try not to generalise based on popularity. Some mainstream music lacks credibility, just like some obscure music lacks credibility.
