My Old magazines w/ Clove on the cover...

...I had no idea where to put this, since, I'm not sure if I want to give/trade them away yet.....or if anyone here even cares/wants them......

I probably have a good chunk of magazines here with Clove on the cover to articles on her. I've got Mademoiselle's, Allure, Jane, Vouge, Q.....and some others I can't think of right now, I think I even have a few Music Mag's with Hole on the cover/article. But I can't decide if I want to give/trade them away to anyone who wants them or if I'll regret getting rid of them, some I've had for about 6, 7, 8 years. But they've just been sitting in my office at home on a shelf for years......meh!

Should I get rid of them? Is there anyone here who would love to have one/them? Or am I crazy to get rid of them, or am I almost 29 and holding onto silly magazines is stupid???

it's not stupid! they're kinda sentimental in a way? even if it is glammy!

i'm sure lots of people here would be willing to buy off you if you do decide to trade or sell!

anyway, i guess if the worst came to the worst and you did decide to trade then regretted it, i'm sure you could eventually get hold of them again! hee anyway hope that was some help!

I don't think it's stupid at all either. I still have magazines from when I was 13 it's funny to read them again when you're older. I think in the trading forum they trade clippings and things so I'm sure someone will want them from you.

Funny this should come up...I had a huge box of mags that I've been saving for the past 20 years through now...anything with historical significance. (to me that is). I wanted to give them to my daughter.

I had a bunch with CL, a whole series from when Nirvana just started out until Kurt died, a couple that talked about the L.A. Underground clubs I hung out in the '80's, ie., Powertools, Plastic Passion, Scream, etc., I had stuff from when Lollapalooza started out on its very first tour, when Clinton was first running for office, Princess Diana dying, 911, etc. etc.

My daughter loved to get them out and read them now and then.

On Saturday, my husband burned them. He thought they were just trash and he burned them! I had them in a special place because everywhere else I kept the box he would bitch and complain about. He was sorry about it, but God, those things were irreplaceable. My daughter is crushed. She's exactly like me that way and she loved those mags.

In a way, I think you should hold onto them. It's history to you and you might have someone you'd like to pass them down to someday. I'm really sad that they're gone.

HAHA! I knew it! Someone already got to me first, but they have a big collection, so whatever she doesn't take, is yours.

I doubt I'll miss them, I kinda flipped through them last night as I was unpacking them in the new place, and thought I'd like to give them to someone that will love them now, as much as i used to.

So you can PM me your address...........

I've been obsessed with Courtney/hole ever since I was about 14 (I'm not anymore though). I used to spend huge amounts of money buying all kinds of memorabilia, and I collected every magazine that courtney/hole was in. I also collected every single clipping of courtney/hole that was in any major magazine and kept this huge scrapbook which I still have.

I don't do all this stuff anymore (obviously!), and over the last year or so I've started selling off some of my hole stuff. There are a few things I want to hold on to, but I've decided that I really don't want to keep all this stuff around... Hole will always be a big part of my life but my obsession is in the past. I'm the type of person who can't stand junk and clutter. I'm constantly going through my stuff and getting rid of absolutely anything that I don't need to keep. It drives me crazy when I see people who don't get rid of clutter.

i have a huge collection of angelina jolie stuff i mean, pretty much the biggest collection i've seen (because a lot of people post their magazine collections etc on ebay now) & i've kind of been in the same dilemma. do i keep them or do i sell it?

throwing them away isn't an option. it never would be. and as much as i still love angelina it will never be what it once was. & maybe it's time.

I had dozens back at home but ended up recycling lots of them. I don't miss them but I do wonder how much they'd go for on ebay. I was never much into collecting clippings or anything.

Looks like you found good homes for yours, though.

i have to laugh...cuz i have a feeling you've prob asked your husband to do a couple of things that he just couldn't be arsed to do, but when it comes to incinerating memories, there's no time like the present!

"whew! glad i got that box of stuff burned!"
