The reason gay profiles seem like job applications to you are that the people who post them are doing their best to avoid "buyers' remorse" -if they are contemplating seeing someone with a view to a relationship, if their profiles are a little too exacting, maybe it's because some people are bored with having to spend copious amounts of money in bars, getting plastered and just "settling". Maybe it isn't that exhausting to sit on the site and think "yes", "no" or "possibly" without having to endure small talk from people you aren't interested in just to be polite.

And yeah, at the other end of the spectrum you will get those who are using the site for a quick fuck.

And maybe there are some people who are looking for something in between.

You really need to get over this pathological compulsion to lump things into categories, not every thing is ""black" or "white" simply because you feel you've had a sucky time of things. I imagine if there were a magic pill you could take to make yourself immediately heterosexual, you think about 70% of your life's problems would automatically right themselves. I think even if you were straight, you'd be one of these guys who would lump women into either the "mother" or the "whore" category, and never the twain would meet, and you would invariably be posting on KR bemoaning the fact that you can't find a woman who meets your exacting standards.
