| | | houseparty aftermath (crisis! need help ASAP) so one of my friends had a huge house party last night.
except it isn't really his house, per say...
and SOMEHOW the entire leather couch is soaking wet, as are the hardwood floors. and he needs to know ASAP how to fix it. the water is all absorbed from the sofa and floor, but it still left this mark:
should we let the cushions out to dry in the sun? or will that make the dried stain worse?
or clean it with something???
it's hard because neither one of us know what happened, or what the substance is. i assume it's all water, but who really knows...??
also, someone barfed on a bed, and it soaked through to the mattress. all the superficial stuff has been cleaned off, but there's still a smell and stain IN the mattress (not just on top of it). how do we get rid of that??
so two problems here:
1. how to get the water damage off a leather sofa
2. how to get a barf smell/some residual liquid out of the INSIDE of a mattress

| | | I think it depends what leater it is.
I have a really expensive leather sofa and even if you get a drop of water on it stains and won't come out.
I guess trying to let it dry wouldn't hurt?

| | | I've had the mattress barfing scenario before myself (yeah, gross) and it's pretty much impossible to actually get the liquid out of the inside of the mattress. I'd say slap the heating on really high in the room to dry it out, and spray febreze or similar odour-masking stuff on the mattress to mask the smell. I don't know how to deal with the puke stain itself, but I guess if you catch it early enough before it dries, you can get rid of the worst of it.
I have no idea what to do with the leather. I tried googling but it's all cleaning companies offering their services. Maybe they are worth a try, and probably safer than trying some home remedy and potentially arsing it up even more?

| | | word. so the party was NOT at my house, but i'm trying to help a friend.
he had to go to work, and i have the sofa cushions.
i'm going to take them to a couple sofa stores and see what they say, or what they can do...
but new information has come to light, APPARENTLY someone got drunk, passed out, and then peed all over the sofas, when they woke up (still very drunk) and realized this, they used the spray nozzel thing from the kitchen sink to spray down the entire sofa, leaving the sofa soking wet, and a puddle of urine + sink water on the hardwood floors...
thank god it's not my house.
suggestions still very welcome on how to solve this problem.

| | | This really isn't funny but at the same time is
Tell the urinating bastard to sort it out, like find the cash to get that sofa re-covered because those stains aren't very likely to come out at all |

If the joins are totally sealed and the whole thing is heavly varnished or lacquered, it might not be a problem. But if it seeps into the joins, it will swell up and there's nothng that can be done about it.

Why would your friend have a house party in a house that isn't his!? Surely it's just asking for all this. Here lie the whines of an eternal worrymutton. |

| | | My friend has a similar houseparty at his parents house--and they were so mad, they had him put in jail for criminal damage to property! I think your friend is kind of screwed.
Are the wood floors warped? That is always such a shame...and really expensive! |
