Hey, guys.. I'm Kevin, the guy who runs the server that this site is on. I normally don't post on customers' sites, but a bunch of you are emailing me questions, so I thought I'd sum up my replies here.
1) All your private info from the old forum is safe. Your passwords were stored in an encrypted method, so the hacker guy couldn't see what your passwords were. The log we have of what the hacker did shows that he didn't even try looking at any private info, all he did was try to delete everything.
2) The hacker got in because the site was running a very old version of vBulletin that had some known security issues.
KR is running the latest version of vBulletin now with no known problems. I'll harass Brooke to keep on top of updates more often.

If you have an account on any other forum that we administrate, your account is safe - we've verified that all of our forums are running the latest code. The hacker only got into the server that runs
KR, there are no other sites that run on this server.
3) I personally do not believe that
Courtney had anything to do with the security breach. A note was left by the hacker that indicates it was someone else who was unhappy with the some current events on the forum. On top of that, if
Courtney really didn't want this forum to exist, there are much easier ways she could have had the forum taken down. (Like just asking us) However, I know nothing about the politics that go on here, so I'll trust Brooke to figure out what's going on.
