tell me the nicknames people have given to statues in your city or town.
dublin has so many and i began to wonder if it was a uniquely irish or even just a dublin thing

i'll give some examples
the millenium spire of dublin


lovingly refered to by most as the spike but also know as The Stiletto in the Ghetto, the Pin in the Bin, the Stiffy by the Liffey, (the river that runs through the city) and Erection at the Intersection



james joyce AKA the prick with the stick

and my favourite
the tart with a cart
miss molly malone

a fictional fishmonger in a song, who wandered the streets and then died of a fever, which just screams prositute

anyway london must have some good ones with all that cockney rhyming jazz

in my hometown we have this thing:



i'm not sure what it is. it looks like a shredded golfball.

& then we have this full size replica of the statue of david:



which, of course, outraged the locals.

i don't know about their nicknames though.

The David statue omg 'lol'.

The statue of the prostitute has her breast all out. So foul.

We have no real statues in SoCal but in Edinburgh the Hume statue always had something on it whether it was a bra or a necklace or a hat or a traffic cone...



No funny nickname that I knew of...?

there are lots of buildings and districts in san francisco that have nicknames but i don't know about statues. i mean. we have them.

there is a black marble sculpture in front of the Bank of America world headquarters called "Transcendence" lovingly referred to as "The Banker's Heart"



City Hall is called "The Wedding Cake"


The Catheral of St. Mary of the Assumption is called "Our Lady Of Maytag" due to its washing machine appearance

Erm, this is the lion statue in the gardens in Reading:



It hasn't got any exciting nicknames, but if you look closely you can see its legs are the wrong way round - both its right legs are forward and both its left legs are back.

Oh, and there's this one in Basingstoke which always makes me giggle:
