| | | How do you beat a bully? Telling a teacher obviously doesn't work. Let's face it, they just don't give a shit.
Standing up to them is easier said than done when you're surrounded by six people all in your face.
So, How do you beat a bully? |

blubbery, are you ever going to post something that's not a question? seriously.
are you having a problem with a bully? just ignore them. walk away. don't let them know that they're getting to you. i don't know how effective these are tho, i can't ever remember any bullies in my school. |

sometimes the system works against the efforts of individual teachers. one problem is the gulf between the enormous distress felt by the victim, and adults' poor perception of how bad things really are. i can't exclude a student for name calling - even if that name calling is driving someone to suicide - because it's "only name calling". actually it's pretty difficult to get an exclusion for physical assault, one student i had who was a complete psycho had to set fire to another student before he was kicked out.

| looking back at when i was bullied i wish i'd fought back, even if it meant a good kicking, because anythings better than the fear, though in my day kids didn't carry knives or guns.
knowing the system from the inside, if i were a parent i'd pressure the school by involving the police and preferably, if i could afford it, lawyers. i'd have them writing snotty letters to the principle about their duty of care and hinting at multi-million pound actions. actually i'd probably home educate

But if you go that route be prepared for some stonewalling at first.
Persist. Make the school write up every incident.

There isn't really that much you can do that will actually be effective, as kesh says. Write down what happens, I guess you could try and get your parents to go in and talk to someone, if you have told your parents. They tend to take adults more seriously so it might be a good idea. Is there anywhere you can go to avoid them, like the library, or are they in your classes? Just remember you'll won't be there forever. The annoying thing is that you want to feel satisfied that your bullies have crap jobs and/or rubbish lives later on, but it's actually kind of sad when you find out what they're up to 5 years on or even less. It's more pity than happiness that karma's caught up with them. Well, some of them. It is frustrating when they carry on fooling people. I hope you're ok and that it doesn't affect you too much; maybe if you write a few more details people might be able to offer more specific advice? How old are you?
Some of the teachers do care, but the nice ones are usually the ones with no power or influence. Just try and absorb yourself with something else so that you don't focus too much on it and let it become your life. Don't think about it too much & let it define you to yourself, if that makes sense.
Kesh, your post made me want to give you a hug. |
