| | | "I'm trying to become vegetarian..." GOD, don't you just hate people who say this? It's like they want all of the cred for being nice and meat-free without wanting to actually make any of the effort or sacrifice. Not that giving up meat was difficult for me; I was vegetarian for years before I actually decided to start calling myself one, because my family used to tease me about it. "You're not a vegetarian, are you?"
My anger was inflamed by this, from a myspace: Quote: |
"I’m trying to become vegetarian because the taste of meat makes me feel ill"
| I'd send her angry messages if I had a myspace. Though I'm glad I don't have, because if I took up the mission to challenge all the idiots on myspace I'd have a lifetime's task on my hands.
So many of my friends do this too...one of them is always telling people she's vegetarian, and then goes and eats meat because she's " trying to get rid of it from of my diet". It's like Dylan Moran, except not funny: "I'm a vegetarian; not hardcore, I mean, I still eat meat, but just because I like the taste".
IT'S NOT DIFFICULT TO BE VEGETARIAN. YOU JUST DON'T EAT DEAD ANIMALS. |

| | | i know what you mean, in a way. i know some people who say they are trying to become veggie ( i know i said it) in the very prestages of thinking about it, so i can understand all of that. but the people who say the whole 'im a vegetarian, but i still eat chicken and seafood" annoy the everliving piss out of me.
just because you dont eat red meat doesnt make you vegetarian! |

I don't think I've ever had steak. I know I've never eaten lamb or beef in my life (my mother had a paranoid fear about me getting CJD. I was also banned from eating sweets with gelatine in...I'm not sure what her justification was for banning lamb. Probably that she just didn't like cooking it, though.)
Is it just that I have a heightened awareness of them, or are we suffering an influx of aliases at the moment? |

| | yeah. i hate how big of a deal vegetarianism seems to be (going either way.)
like, people who make a big deal out of being a vegetarian, like mentioned because it's cool now (seems to be among teenagers trying to be all alternative .) but the people who get all angry and defensive if you say you are, and then try to debate why you're stupid bug me too. i dunno. maybe it's just happening to me, but i'm getting a lot of 'oh, you're one of those' looks when offered food i can't eat.
i think most people think all vegetarians are preachy and are trying to convert everyone, so we're all condemned, lol.
why does everyone care what other people eat? it doesn't effect them in the least!

We have the proliferation of "vegetarians" (inverted commas necessary) to thank for that! Or piscatarians, whatever they are. I feel better after venting on the internet. I think this is the first angry thread I've made for no apparent reason on the Void. Oh, I did make one about my brother using my bath products once (he hasn't changed, if anyone was wondering; now he uses my Lush stuff without appreciating it at all ). |

I've heard people say that they "don't eat things that had parents" before, though I'm a biological pedant and that doesn't quite wash with me. Quote: |
