My friend's having a birthday party BBQ that day, so there's my excuse to stay in Enfield.

| | | When will the great unwashed come to the realisation that the weekend is NOT about William and Kate, but rather, the onus should be on the fact that it is the weekend of my civil partnership and THIS is what people from round the world should be converging upon London to celebrate and NOT the exchanging of marital vows between a royal accident of birth and upwardly mobile hunt s***. |

I remember back in 1981, even the most jaded of punks DID watch the wedding and put their pretensions of anarchy aside for the day. I think far too much has happened in terms of shattering the illusion of "fairytale" weddings that even a lot of the hardcore Royalists will be watching this with something of a jaundiced eye. |

We only married on the 30th and not the 31st because city hall doesn't do weddings on weekends. It wasn't quite as big a deal as a royal wedding, but it was the big news that weekend. My $25 sundress from the consignment shop for fat grrrls did not make any style sections. |
