I'm pretty sure I've started this thread before to ask for advice, but this time I'm doing it for real: I'm moving to Manchester! I've just got a job worth moving for and my man is coming with me (thank goodness), but I'm still very, very scared. How expensive is it to live there? Any particular areas that I should avoid? Does anyone live in Manchester? I want tons of KR buddies. So yeah, talk to me about Manchester please!

It's nice, but are there many interesting people in Manchester? maybe during summer all the idiots stay. There are many places to avoid but i was in all of those, still dicey.

i have no useful advice. i really like that city and have visited many times. i think you'll like it. next time im in england it'll probably be manchester or liverpool so maybe we can finally meet!

Even though I was sort of preparing myself for this news most of the day, it's just kind of sinking in now. BUT I'm so happy for you, and so excited at being able to visit Manchester loads! And I will.

it's not expensive. you're from edinburgh arn't you?
my best friend from home lives there, her old 1 bedroom flat was £400 a month! SO CHEAP
and shes just moving into a 2 bedroom house with someone else and its about £300 a month i think!
going out is MUCH cheaper there than here in London, or York.

there are lots of nice bars and shops there too. i think it's my favourite city in the uk. I couldn't say areas to avoid, but i would gather these would be quite far out? there are quite a lot of 'student' areas i think, but again i couldn't tell you what theyre called? i think its affordable to live pretty in the centre though... especially if you had a nice job!
