close to where you are:

* edinburgh castle pub/bar -- geary x larkin
i don't know if it's tonight, but 1964 night is the shit. the djs there are generally pretty damn good. it's divey, hipster scene, but worth it. good drinks.

* whiskey shop -- stockton x sutter
kindof pricey, but realllly good drinks -- whiskey, obviously. also scotch... good bartenders, i just like them because they're sassy and from the UK, but i think you're from there too, which might not be as entertaining for you. classy fun?

* deco lounge -- larkin and i don't know...
it's one of the few gay bars i've been to, only because of it's proximity to the castle. it's pretty divey, but where the non-pretentious gays hangout. once i peed my pants from laughing there. well i was also drunk, but close enough.

* the grubstake -- pine x polk, or maybe van ness?
it's open really late, and then opens again early i'm pretty sure. it's really weird inside, family owned, just.. interesting. it's good diner food and also a bunch of random mediterranean food on the back of the menu, for when you're wasted and want to eat a giant breakfast plate at 3am. great burgers. it's kindof hard to find, it's a ghetto red boxcar-like building.

if you wanna go crazy, and stay out all night, it's good to go down to the embarcadero and watch the sun rise. down by the ferry building. you can walk along the coast and puke if you need to. also the ferry building farmer's market is THE SHIT. go. get some ciao bella gelato or some cookies/baked goods from miette, and maybe some coffee or cheese at cowgirl creamery -- i think almost all these places do free tastings. you can wander around and get excellent free food.

or if all else fails, you can walk down to the St. Francis hotel and protest president Obama, whos there right now, with all the rest of the crazies and fundies and hippies.

or if you're willing to do the trek, get a cab down to the haight, like haight x masonic is a good place to start and just wander. it's really hard to get lost, the main strip there up and down haight is full of bars, theaters, restaurants, random shit happening in the street, and if you want to buy drugs, just walk into golden gate park. everyone is selling near the entrance by McDonalds.

this is kindof late.
but had you posted earlier. i'd have been on it sooner.
