In a couple months I will be taking my first solo international flight (from USA to Scotland) and I am a nervous wreck about it (2 layovers, one in USA and one in London). Any advice for getting through this long flight alone?

i've been dying to go to scotland for a while, i'll go with you.

Just really need to keep yourself occupied. Im sure there will be a tv so you can watch movies, and then just take mags/books/quiz books with you. Im sure once you get settled in you will get a wee snooze here and there. Your ipod too. And then your all set to go. I know it sounds like a long flight, but it will go pretty quick with all the things you can do onboard.

take a book, make sure you like the book before you go, so read a chapter or two. ipod or cd player, magazine or paper. personally I love dossing about in airports so stop overs are not too bad for me. try not to get too excited even though you will be and don't look at your watch every 10 minutes.

and welcome to scotland also, what city are you coming to? how long you staying? are you the girl who has the boyfriend in glasgow?
